General Description
When a malfunction occurs in the communication line between the Main CPU and the Sub CPU in the powertrain control module (PCM), no monitor signals or abnormality are detected from Sub CPU for a set time or more, the PCM detects a malfunction and a DTC is stored.

Enable Conditions
Malfunction Threshold
One of these condition must be met for at least 0.5 second.
- No Sub CPU monitor signals are detected.
- Sub CPU monitor signals are abnormal.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for illuminating the MIL When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
