U0100 (102)

DTC U0100 (102): F-CAN Malfunction (Powertrain Control Module (PCM)(CVT System)-Motor Control Module (MCM))

General Description
The controller area network (CAN) transmits/receives pulsing signals to/from the control modules simultaneously by using two signal lines (CANH and CANL).

When the information is not sent from the powertrain control module (PCM) through the F-CAN for a specified time continuously or when the information sent from the PCM is abnormal and this condition continues for a specified cycle, the motor control module (MCM) detects a malfunction of the F-CAN and when at least one of the other nodes is not malfunctioning after the time to detect BUS-OFF of the F-CAN has passed, a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions occurs.
- The information is not sent from the PCM through the F-CAN for at least 0.5 seconds and at least one other node is communicating after 2 seconds have passed.
- The information sent from the PCM through the F-CAN is abnormal at least 10 times and at least one other node is communicating after 2 seconds have passed.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM and MCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.

The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
