DTC U0037 (99): IMA-CAN Malfunction (BUS-OFF (Battery Condition Monitor (BCM) Module))




General Description
The integrated motor assist-controller area network (IMA-CAN) uses two signal lines, IMACANH and IMACANL, and it receives and transmits multiple signals simultaneously to/from multiple control modules.

When the information is not sent from all nodes through the IMA-CAN and this condition continues for a specified time, or when the information sent from all nodes is abnormal and this condition continues for a specified cycle, the battery condition monitor (BCM) module detects a malfunction and a DTC is stored.

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
The following conditions occur within 2 seconds:
- The information sent from all nodes via the IMA-CAN is not received for at least 1 second.
- The information sent from all nodes via the IMA-CAN is abnormal and this cycle continues at least 10 times.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM and BCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.

The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
