DTC POAEE (109): Motor Control Module (MCM) Internal Circuit Malfunction

General Description
When the motor power inverter (MPI) module temperature is a specified value or more in the power save mode, the MPI module temperature decreases if the MPI module cooling system is normal. The stabilization of the MPI module temperature sensor at a medium temperature is detected by comparing the MPI module temperature decrease over a specified time to a specified value.

If the change in MPI module temperature is less than a specified value within a set time, it is detected as a malfunction and a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
The MPI module temperature change is less than 39 °F (4 °C) within 10 minutes.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM and MCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.

The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
