Gear Lockout Solenoid: Service and Repair

Reverse Lockout Solenoid Disassembly/Reassembly

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1. Do the battery removal procedure.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Transmission is suppressed from the under by Floor Jack.





4. Remove the transmission mount bracket bolts (A).





5. Remove the three transmission upper mount bracket bolts (A), transmission upper mount bracket (B), the ground cable mount bolt (C), and ground cable (D).





6. Disconnect the reverse lockout solenoid connector.
7. Remove the bolts (A), and reverse solenoid assembly (B).





8. Remove the roller (A), and select lock cam (B).





9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
10. Clean any the dirt and oil from the sealing surface.
11. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08718-0001, evenly to the mating surface. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.

NOTE:
^ If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
^ If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket and before assembly remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.





12. Install the reverse lockout solenoid assembly (A) with the bolts (B).





13. Connect the reverse lockout solenoid connector.
14. Install the transmission upper mount bracket (A), and the ground cable (B) with new bolts as shown.





15. Install a new transmission mount bracket bolts (A).





16. Remove the Floor Jack that suppress the transmission.
17. Install the air cleaner assembly.
18. Do the battery installation procedure.
