General Troubleshooting Information

How to Check for DTCs with the HDS

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN system diagnosis test mode A.

1. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.




2. Connect the HDS to the Data Link Connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
4. Select DTCs in the body electrical climate control mode MENU of the HDS.
5. Check for DTCs. If a DTC is indicated, go to the next step. If no DTC(s) is indicated, refer to symptom troubleshooting.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Disconnect the HDS from the DLC.
8. Do the troubleshooting procedure for the DTC indicated.

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN system diagnosis test mode A.




To retrieve the DTC, you must run the self-diagnostic function. In the case of multiple problems, the respective indicator segments will come on. If indicator segments A, C, E, G, I, L, and 0come on at the same time, there may be an open in the common ground wire of the sensors.
