Back-up Light Switch Signal Circuit TroubleshootingM/T model
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Are the back-up lights on when the shift lever is not in reverse position?
YES - Inspect the back-up light switch.
NO - Go to step 2.
2. Shift the transmission to reverse gear.
Do the back-up lights come on?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Go to step 4.
3. Measure voltage between ECM connector terminals B24 and B20.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - The back-up light switch signal is OK.
NO - Repair open in the wire between the ECM (B24) and the back-up light switch.
4. Inspect the No.27 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES - Repair open in the wire between the back-up light switch and the No.27 (7.5 A) fuse. Inspect the back-up light switch.
NO - Repair short in the wire between the ECM (B24) and the No.27 (7.5 A) fuse. Replace the No.27 (7.5 A) fuse.
