Countershaft Disassembly





1. Securely clamp the countershaft assembly in a bench vise with wood blocks.
2. Use a chisel (A) to raise the locknut tab (B) from the groove in the countershaft.





3. Remove the locknut (left-hand threads) (A) and the spring washer (B).





4. Support the 5th gear (A) on steel blocks, then use a press and an attachment (B) to press the countershaft (C) out of the ball bearing.





5. Support the 4th gear (A) on steel blocks, then use a press and an attachment (B) to press the countershaft (C) out of the 4th gear.





6. Support the 3rd gear (A) on steel blocks, then use a press and an attachment (B) to press the countershaft (C) out of the 3rd gear.
