Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Injector Replacement

1. Relieve the fuel pressure.
2. Remove the resonator.
3. Remove the air cleaner.




4. Remove the two bolts (A).
5. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors, the front ignition coils, the EGR valve, and the engine wire harness 14P connector (B).
6. Remove the ground terminal (C).
7. Remove the EGR bracket (D).
8. Disconnect the hoses from the fuel rail (El.
9. Remove the fuel rail mounting nuts (F) from the fuel rail, then remove the injectors and fuel rail together.
10. Remove the injector clip (G) from the injector (H).
11. Remove the injector from the fuel rail.




12. Coat the new O-rings (A) with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors (B) into the fuel rail (C).
13. Install the injector clip (D).
14. Coat the injector O-rings (E) with clean engine oil.
15. Install the injectors into the injector base (F).
16. Install the fuel rail mounting nuts (G).
17. Reconnect the fuel hoses.
18. Install the EGR bracket.
19. Connect the ground terminal.
20. Connect the connectors on the injectors, the front ignition coils, the EGR valve, and the engine wire harness 14P connector.
21. Install the two bolts (H).
22. Install the air cleaner.
23. Install the resonator.
24. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.
