How to Remove the ECM for Testing

If the troubleshooting for a code requires voltage or resistance checks at the ECM connectors, remove the ECM and test it:

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Wait for 1 minute. If the radiator fan is running, wait for 1 minute after it stops.
3. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

8. Remove the nuts, then remove the ECM (B).
9. After testing proposes are complete, reinstall the ECM in the reverse order of removal.
10. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
11. Do the ECM idle learn procedure.
12. Start the engine, and hold the engine speed about 4,000 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the IMA battery indicator (BAT) on the gauge functions properly.
