Are there any other DTCs?
YES- Perform the troubleshooting for the indicated DTC. Recheck for DTC P1890 after troubleshooting.
NO- Go to step 2.
2. Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature reaches 176°F (80°C).
3. Check the IMA battery level gauge in the gauge assembly.
Does the battery level gauge indicate 4 - 19 segments?
YES- Go to step 4.
NO- Run the engine in the P position at 3,500 rpm until the battery level gauge shows 4 - 19 segments, then go to step 4.
4. Shift to the D position.
5. Keep pressing the brake pedal for 5 seconds.
6. Accelerate from a stop at over 40% throttle, and drive the vehicle on a flat road at about 37 mph (60 km/h) for more than 15 seconds. Do not release the accelerator during test-driving.
7. Slow down the vehicle and step the wheels, and after stopping keep pressing the brake pedal for 5 seconds.
8. Check whether the HDS indicates any DTCs.
Does the HDS indicate any DTCs?

Does the engine speed exceed 3,500 rpm?
YES- Replace the transmission.
NO- Go to step 13.
13. Test-drive the vehicle on a flat road in the D position. Accelerate with 2 V of throttle position sensor voltage by monitoring the voltage with the HDS, and drive the vehicle above 37 mph (60 km/h) for several minutes.
14. Check the engine speed when vehicle speed is 37 mph (60 km/h).
Is the engine speed 2,350 - 2,950 rpm?
YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If necessary, replace the ATF, then recheck.
