DTC P1589 (21): MPI Module Current Signal Circuit Problem
1. Reset the MCM.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Is DTC P15B9 indicated?
YES-Replace the MPI module current sensor, then go to step 5.
NO-Go to step 3.
3. Reset the MCM.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Is DTC P1589 indicated?
YES-Update the MCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good: MCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good MCM, replace the original MCM.
NO-Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MPI module current sensor and at the MCM.
5. Reset the MCM.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
7. Start the engine. Hold it at 3,000 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
8. Drive the vehicle above 12 mph (20 km/h).
9. Stop the engine, and wait 1 minute.
Is DTC P1589 indicated?
YES-Replace these items:
^ MPI module.
^ Snubber unit.
^ PDU capacitor.
NO-Troubleshooting is complete.
