P1437
DTC P1437 (41): MPI Module Short Circuit1. Reset the MCM.
2. Start the engine. Raise the engine speed to 3,500 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the IMA battery level gauge indicates above 2/3.
3. Accelerate using wide open throttle to 12 - 25 mph (20 - 40 km/h) in 3rd gear (CVT in D).
Is DTC P1437 indicated?
YES-Go to step 4.
NO-Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MPI module and et the MCM.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Turn the battery module switch OFF.
6. Remove the IPU lid.
7. Disconnect MCM connector B (24P) and MPI module 16P connector.
8. Remove PDU covers A and B.
9. Remove the motor power cables (A) from the output busbar (B).
10. Disconnect the U/V/W phase motor current sensor connectors (C).
11. Remove the output busbar from the MPI module.
12. Remove the bolts (D) from the stay (E).
13. Measure resistance between these busbar terminals:
^ The U phase terminal (A) and V phase terminal (B).
^ The W phase terminal (C) and V phase terminal (B).
^ The U phase terminal (A) and W phase terminal (C).
NOTE: Use the 250 V range of the insulation resistance tester.
Is there 350 k Ohms or more?
YES-Go to step 14.
NO-Replace the output busbar.
14. Remove the output busbar and the U/N/W phase motor current sensors.
15. Install the stay (A), then install the motor power cables (B).
NOTE: When installing the motor power cables, use the washers (C) (6.5 mm) of same thickness for the busbar.
16. Start the engine, and measure voltage between these terminals at idle:
^ The U phase terminal (A) and V phase terminal (B).
^ The W phase terminal (C) and V phase terminal (B).
^ The U phase terminal (A) and W phase terminal (C).
NOTE: When using clamp-type voltmeter leads, be careful not to touch any other terminals.
Is each measurement about 2.7 - 40 V?
YES-Go to step 21.
NO-Go to step 17.
17. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
18. Check the motor power cable connection between the motor stator and the MPI module.
Is the connection OK?
YES-Go to step 19.
NO-Repair connection in the cable, then go to step 16.
19. Disconnect the motor power cables, then wrap them with insulating tape.
20. Measure resistance between these motor power cable terminals individually.
YES-Replace the motor stator.
NO-Replace the motor power cable.
21. Disconnect the MPI module 16P connector.
22. Measure voltage between MPI module 16P connector terminals No. 6, No. 7, No. 8, No. 14, No. 15, or No. 16, and No. 2 or No. 10 individually.
Is there 0.7 V or less?
YES-Replace the MPI module.
NO-Update the MCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good MCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good MCM, replace the original MCM.
