DTC P0196: EOT Sensor Range/Performance Problem1. Check the engine oil and the engine coolant levels. Are the levels OK?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Adjust the engine oil and engine coolant to the proper level.
2. Allow the engine to cool below 113 °F (45 °C).
3. Reset the ECM with the HDS.

5. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is Temporary DTC P0196 indicated?
YES - Go to step 6.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the EOT sensor and the ECM.
6. Measure voltage between ECM connector terminals A10 and C1.
Is there about 0.5 - 0.7 V?
YES - Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good ECM, replace the original ECM.
NO - Replace the EOT sensor and recheck.
