Rust on the Rear License Trim

SYMPTOM

Rust forms near the left and right edges of the rear license trim.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The rear license trim rubs against the trunk lid on the outside edges and starts to rust.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Repair the paint on the trunk lid as necessary, and replace the rear license trim.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the rear license trim:

^ Refer to page 20-97 of the 2003-04 Civic Hybrid Service Manual.

^ In ISIS, enter keyword License Trim, and select Rear License Trim Replacement (Hybrid).

2. Clean the affected area of the trunk lid; if necessary, repair and repaint any damage. Refer to Service Bulletin 97-028, Minor Paint Finish Repair.

3. Install the new rear license trim.
