DTC P1436 (39): MPI Module Overheating1. Reset the MCM.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Start the engine.
Is DTC P1436 indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the IPU module, IPU module fan and at the MCM.
4. Check the IPU module air duct or IPU lid for damage or obstructions.
Is the IPU module air duct or IPU lid OK?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Repair the IPU module air duct or IPU lid as necessary.
5. Raise the engine speed to 4,000 rpm, and charge the IMA battery. While the IMA charging system light shows at least 3 bars of charging and the rpm is 4,000 rpm or above, see if the IPU module fan is running.
Does the IPU module fan run?
YES - Replace the MPI module.
NO - Replace the IPU module fan.
