MIL Comes On With DTC P1420
SYMPTOM
The MIL comes on with DTC P1420 (NOX adsorptive catalyst system efficiency below threshold).
PROBABLE CAUSE
In the ECM/PCM software, the parameters for monitoring DTC P1420 are too narrow, causing the code to set.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the ECM/PCM using the Honda Interface Module (HIM).

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS
Confirm the MIL is on, and use the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) to retrieve the DTCs.
^ If DTC P1420 is stored, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
^ If another DTC is stored, this bulletin does not apply.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Connect the HDS to the vehicle's data link connector (DLC). Use the HDS to clear any stored codes.
2. If not already done, load the July 2004 or later iN network CD onto the iN master terminal. Loading instructions were included along with the CD mailing.
3. Update the ECM/PCM software using the Honda Interface Module as described in Honda Service Bulletin 01-023, Using the Honda Interface Module to Update Control Units/Modules.
