Long Engine Crank Time
SOURCE:Honda Service News August 2003
TITLE:
Long Engine Crank Time
APPLIES TO:
2003 Accord V6
SERVICE TIP:
If you have owners of 2003 Accord V6 complaining of engine crank times of 3 or more seconds, the problem could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. To check if this is the problem, hook up a fuel pressure gauge. Then start the engine, and let it run for more than 2 minutes. Shut off the engine, and watch the fuel pressure reading on the gauge. If you see a significant loss of fuel pressure (it drops to 20 or 30 psi), you need to replace the fuel pressure regulator. Make sure you replace only the fuel pressure regulator in the fuel tank; there's no need to replace the fuel pump.
