Ticking, Popping, or Creaking From Driver's A-Pillar
SYMPTOM
A ticking, popping, or creaking is heard from the driver's A-pillar area when driving.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The wool felt that insulates the driver's A-pillar trim tabs is not positioned correctly.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Remove the driver's A-pillar trim, and reposition or replace the two wool felt pieces.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS
1. Test-drive the vehicle under the same conditions as stated by the customer, and attempt to duplicate the ticking, popping, or creaking from the driver's A-pillar.
2. Position a plastic trim tool between the driver's A-pillar trim and the dashboard. Test-drive the vehicle under the same conditions, and listen for a ticking, popping, or creaking from the driver's A-pillar:
^ If you still hear the noise, refer to:
- S/B 04-056, Creaking or Popping From Driver's A-Pillar (V6 only).
- S/B 04-057, Creak or Click at Dashboard or A-Pillar.
^ If you no longer hear the noise, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the driver's A-pillar trim:
^ Refer to page 20-94 or 20-99 of the 2003-05 Accord Service Manual.
^ In ISIS, enter keyword A-PILLAR, select the appropriate Interior Trim Removal/Installation
- Door Area from the list.
2. Inspect the two tabs on the lower portion of the A-pillar trim. Reposition or replace any piece of the the wool felt that is not positioned correctly. Replace any piece of the wool felt that is damaged.
3. Reinstall the A-pillar trim.
4. Test-drive the vehicle to make sure the noise is gone.
