DIAGNOSIS

1. Test-drive the vehicle, and listen for a wind noise or rattle from the convertible top, near the windshield frame.

^ If you hear the noise, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

^ If you don't hear the noise, go to step 2.

2. Stop the vehicle. Unlatch the convertible top, and look for wear (scratches, gouges, or similar damage) at the pin and hook contact points of each striker.

^ If either striker is worn, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

^ If the strikers are not worn, look for other causes of the wind noise or rattle.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the trim from the windshield frame.

2. Replace the convertible top strikers with hardtop strikers. Torque the hardtop striker screws to 16 Nm (12 lb-ft).

3. Install the windshield frame trim in the reverse order of removal. Make sure the weatherstrip fits correctly over the header trim and both A-pillar trim pieces.

4. Test-drive the vehicle to make sure the wind noise or rattle is gone.
