Right Central Joint Clearance
1. Using the dial gauge measure the clearance by moving the right central joint.
- Clearance: 0.2 - 0.5 mm 10.008 - 0.020 inch).
2. If the clearance is out of specification, continue with this procedure.
3. Remove the right side cover.
4. Measure the old shim thickness.
5. If the clearance value is more than specification, calculate the thickness of the new shim.
- Clearance value - 0.3 mm (0.012 inch) = Plus value
- Old shim thickness + Plus value = New shim thickness
Example 1:
- Clearance value: 0.7 mm (0.028 inch)
- Old shim thickness: 2.3 mm (0.091 inch)
- 0.7 mm - 0.3 mm = 0.4 mm
- 2.3 mm + 0.4 mm = 2.7 mm (0.106 inch)
- Select shim I.
If the clearance value is less than specification, calculate the thickness of the new shim as described below.
- 0.3 mm (0.012 inch) - Clearance value = Minus value
- Old shim thickness - Minus value = New shim thickness
Example 2:
- Clearance value: 0.1 mm (0.004 inch)
- Old shim thickness: 2.3 mm (0.091 inch)
- 0.3 mm - 0.1 mm = 0.2 mm
- 2.3 mm - 0.2 mm = 2.1 mm (0.083 inch)
- Select shim F.
6. Install the right side cover.
