MIL Comes On With DTC P0131 or Poor Engine Performance

SYMPTOM

The MIL is on with DTC P0131 (primary heated oxygen sensor circuit low voltage) stored.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The EGR valve is faulty.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the EGR valve.

Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Connect the HDS to the vehicle's DLC (data link connector), and check for DTCs.

^ If DTC P0131 is stored, go to step 2.

^ If another DTC is stored, troubleshoot that DTC.





2. Disconnect the EGR valve connector.

3. Remove the EGR valve and gasket.

4. Install the new gasket and EGR valve. Torque the nuts to 21 N.m (15 lb-ft). Reconnect the EGR valve connector.
