Power Windows/Door Locks - Do Not Work

Power Door Locks and Windows Do Not Work Correctly

SYMPTOMS
1. The power door locks do not work from the driver's door master switch, but they do work from the passenger's door master switch.

2. Only the driver's window can be raised and lowered from the driver's door master control panel. The other windows can be raised and lowered only with their respective door switches.

3. The driver's window AUTO down function does not work.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The multiplex control unit in the driver's door is defective.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the door multiplex control unit.

Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

DIAGNOSIS





1. Plug the 3P service connector into the MPCS connector on the back of the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.

2. Turn on the ignition switch. Wait five seconds.

^ If the ignition switch light flashes and the beeper beeps once every three seconds, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

^ If you get any other indication, refer to page 22-127 of the 1998-99 service manual for troubleshooting procedures.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Remove the mounting screw. Remove the master control panel from the armrest. Disconnect the electrical connectors.





2. Remove the master switch assembly from the control panel (4 screws).

3. Install the new master switch assembly on the control panel.

4. Reinstall the control panel in the armrest.

5. Test the operation of the door lock and window switches.
