Roof Rack End Covers Fall Off

PROBLEM

The customer notices the roof rack end covers are loose or missing.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Follow these instructions when installing new or replacement end covers.





1. Measure the distance between the end of the roof rail and the shoulder on the end support. It should be 1.5 mm. Without this clearance, you will not be able to slide the cover on far enough to fully engage the lock.

If the gap is not 1.5 mm, loosen the sleeve nuts with a T-30 Torx driver, reposition the end support, and tighten the sleeve nuts to 9 N-m (0.9 kg-m, 6.5 lb.ft.).





2. Position the end cover on the rails of the end support. Install the cover by sliding it parallel to the roof until it clicks in place.

3. Pull on the end cover to make sure it is locked in position.
