CORRECTIVE ACTION
Remove the rear window inner lower seal.
1. Remove the upper center trim panel.
2. With the rear window raised, confirm whether the inner lower seal is still in place.
^ If the seal has already been removed, reinstall the upper center trim panel and go to step 13.
^ If the seal is still in place, go to step 3.
3. Lower the rear window.
4. Remove the outside bottom weatherstrip by detaching the clips while prying the weatherstrip rearward by hand.
5. Move both seats forward and tilt the seat backs forward.
6. Remove the upper side trim panels.
7. Close the rear window.
8. Remove the rear glass stabilizers.
9. Modify a trim pad removal tool by putting a rubber pad on the back. This will protect the window if you have to pry against the glass.
NOTE:
The cup holder rubber spacer, P/N 83416-SR3-308, can be used as a pad.
10. Remove the three clips holding the lower seal.
^ Have an assistant hold clip B with a pair of needle-nose pliers.
^ Use the trim pad removal tool to remove clip A from clip B. Do not let the clip parts fall in the window cavity; they may rattle or clog up the drains.
11. Carefully remove the lower seal from the window. Do not scratch or damage the rear defogger grid.
12. Reinstall the glass stabilizers, trim panels, and outside bottom weatherstrip.
13. Center-punch a completion mark above the first character (J) of the engine compartment VIN.
