Replacement

1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures. Disconnect battery ground and positive cables and remove the battery.
2. Remove the air intake hose, air cleaner case and battery base.





3. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle control lever.
4. Disconnect transmission ground cable and speed sensor connectors.
5. Disconnect and remove the starter motor.
6. Remove rear mount bracket stay nut first, remove the bolt then the rear mount bracket stay.
7. Remove speed sensor, leaving hoses attached.
8. Disconnect the lock-up control and shift control solenoid connectors.
9. Drain transmission fluid. and disconnect the cooler hoses at joint pipes. turn ends up to prevent ATF from flowing out.
10. Remove center beam.
11. Remove oxygen sensor connector.








12. Remove exhaust pipe and front splash shield.





13. Remove the cotter pins and lower arm ball joint nuts.Separate the lower ball joint from lower control arm.









14. Remove driveshafts from the differential.To protect driveshaft ends, cover ends with plastic bags.





15. Remove the right damper pinch bolt. Separate the damper fork and damper.
16. Remove the bolts and nuts, then remove the right radius rod.
17. Remove torque converter cover and control cable bracket.





18. Remove shift control cable by removing the cotter pin, control pin and control lever roller from the control lever.
19. Remove drive plate bolts.
20. Remove the transmission housing mounting bolts.
21. Remove bolts from rear engine mount bracket.





22. Attach a suitable chain to transmission, then lift slightly.
23. Place a suitable jack under transmission and raise transmission to take weight off mounts.
24. Remove the remaining transmission housing bolts and three mount bracket nuts.





25. Pull the transmission away from engine until it clears the 14 mm dowel pins.
26. Lower the transmission out of vehicle.




















27. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

28. Reverse procedure to install.
