Transmission Housing

REMOVAL

NOTE:
- If the transmission housing or clutch housing were replaced, the bearing preload must be adjusted.
- Place two 70 x 70 x 450 mm (2.75 x 2.75 x 17.75 in) wood blocks under the clutch housing.

1. Remove the shift arm cover, shift arm and interlocker. Shift Arm Assembly




2. Remove the reverse idler shaft bolt.
3. Remove the setting screws, then remove the washers, springs and steel balls.




4. Remove the 10 mm bolts and 8 mm bolts attaching the transmission housing to the clutch housing.




5. Remove the 32 mm sealing bolt.
6. Expand the snap ring on the countershaft ball bearing and remove it from the groove using a pair of snap ring pliers.
7. Separate the transmission housing from the clutch housing and remove the sealant from the mating surfaces.




8. Remove the 28 mm sealing bolt, then remove the oil gutter plate.

NOTE: The transmission housing can be removed with the oil gutter plate in the transmission housing.
