Air Injection Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve: Testing and Inspection
Fig. 46 Air Injection Control Wiring And Vacuum Hose Diagram:
1. Start the engine and warm up to normal operating temperature (cooling fan comes on).
2. Stop engine and remove the air cleaner cover and filter.
3. Start the engine and check for a bubbling sound from the air suction port at idle.

Fig. 48 Testing For Vacuum To The Air Suction Valve:
a. A bubbling sound should not be heard.
b. If a bubbling noise is heard, disconnect the #5 vacuum hose from the air suction valve and connect a vacuum pump/gauge.
c. There should be no vacuum.
d. If there is no vacuum, replace the air suction valve and retest.
e. If there is vacuum, proceed to step 4.
4. Block the rear wheels and set the parking brake. Jack up the front of the car and support with safety stands.
5. Place the shift lever is second or 2 position and accelerate to above 12.5 mph, then release the throttle and check for a bubbling sound from the air suction port.
