Fast Idle Speed
Choke Thermowax Valve:
1. Start engine and run until cooling fan comes on.
2. Carefully relieve cooling system pressure.
3. Remove coolant lines from the choke thermowax valve. Using a hose or splicer, connect hoses together.
4. Cool the thermowax valve by running tap water into the top port with a hose.
NOTE: Steps 1 thru 4 are to ensure that engine is at normal operating temperature and choke thermowax valve is cold.
Fast Idle Speed:
5. Start engine and connect tachometer.
6. Check fast idle speed against values on chart.
Fast Idle Speed Adjustment:
7. If fast idle is not correct, adjust by turning the fast idle adjusting screw. If fast idle cannot be adjusted to specifications, left carburetor is defective and must be replaced.
