Power Valve System
Power Valve:
The power valve is a small vacuum operated fuel jet inside each carburetor. Manifold vacuum is applied to the power valve diaphragm, from an external vacuum line, closing the power valve. When engine vacuum drops during heavy load the valve spring pressure opens the valve allowing additional fuel into the engine from the floatbowl. During cold engine operation (below 68°F or 20.5°C) vacuum is bled off through an air cleaner mounted bimetallic air bleed valve allowing the power valve to open. This provides an additional source of cold enrichment to the engine.
