Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Mechanical: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 56 Removing The #6 Vacuum Hose From The Throttle Controller:





1. Start engine and run until cooling fan comes on.
2. Connect tachometer to engine and disconnect #6 vacuum hose.

Expected result:
M/T 2200 rpm.
A/T 1900 rpm.

3. If engine speed is incorrect, adjust by bending tab on linkage.

4. If engine speed did not change when vacuum hose #6 was removed attach vacuum gauge and check for vacuum.

Expected result:
Engine vacuum.

5. If there was no vacuum present check hoses and inline check valve. Replace as required.
