Air Cleaner Housing: Description and Operation

The Air Cleaner is the paper-element type. The air cleaner housing is mounted on the side of the throttle body. The Air Cleaner traps dirt and other contaminants before they have a chance to enter the engine. Air is drawn in through the air intake tube, filtered by the Air Cleaner, and then passes into the throttle body. There is also a resonator chamber connected to the air intake tube which helps reduce airflow noise as air is drawn into the system.
