If Engine Will Run
Fig. 51 Fuel Injector:
NOTE: Check the following items before testing: idle speed, ignition timing, and idle CO%.
1. Disconnect the 2P connector from the EACV.
2. With the engine idling, disconnect each injector connector individually and note the change in idle speed.
a. If the idle speed drop is almost the same for each cylinder, the injectors are normal.
b. If the idle speed remains the same when you disconnect a particular injector, replace the injector and retest. See FUEL INJECTOR REPLACEMENT
3. Turn the ignition switch off. Reconnect the EACV and remove the #11 (CLOCK) fuse, wait 10 seconds for the ECU to reset, install #11 fuse.
Fig. 53 Checking Injector With A Stethoscope:
4. Check the clicking sound of each injector by using a stethoscope while the engine idles.
5. If any injector fails to make the typical clicking sound, check the sound again after replacing the injector.
6. If the clicking sound is still absent, check the following:
a. If the fuel injector resistor is open or corroded. See FUEL INJECTOR RESISTOR TEST
b. If there is any short-circuits, broken wires, or poor connection in the RED/BLK wire between the injector and resistor.
c. If there is a short-circuit, broken wire, or poor connection in the wire between the ECU and the injector.
7. If all is OK, see DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
