Mixture Control Solenoid - Slow Cut: Description and Operation
Primary Slow Mixture Cut-Off Solenoid:
Fig. 71 Primary Slow Mixture Cut-Off Solenoid Valve:
The primary slow mixture cut-off solenoid is mounted on the carburetor. It contains a spring loaded rod that protrudes into the fuel passage used by the idle circuit. When energized the rod is pulled out of the passage allowing normal fuel flow. It is used to close off the idle circuit fuel supply when the engine is shut off to reduce engine run-on. It is also used to lower emissions and improve fuel economy by cutting the fuel supply during sudden deceleration.
