Idle Boost Solenoid Valve (A/T Only)
Idle Boost And A/C Idle Boost Solenoid Operation:
The idle boost solenoid valve is located in the control box. It operates as an electric vacuum switching valve. The solenoid is energized by the PGM unit when engine the temperature is below 66°F (19°C) or when the transmission is in gear. When energized, the solenoid allows vacuum to the inner diaphragm of the idle boost throttle controller. This opens the throttle valve a preset amount to compensate for engine load.
