A/C Idle Boost Solenoid (A/T Only)
Idle Boost And A/C Idle Boost Solenoid Operation:
The A/C idle boost solenoid valve is mounted above the drivers side fender skirt in the engine compartment. The solenoid works as an electric vacuum switching valve. It is used only on vehicles with an automatic transmission and air conditioning. The solenoid is energized by the PGM unit when the air conditioning compressor is running. When powered it directs manifold vacuum to the outer diaphragm of the idle boost throttle controller raising the idle rpm to compensate for the added load imposed by the air conditioning compressor.
