Throttle Kit Installation:
Throttle Kit Installation
1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Remove the carburetor (leave the fuel lines and most hoses connected), tilt it back toward the firewall, and remove the screw from the bottom of the throttle controller bracket. Discard the screw.
3. Set the carb back down and remove the left screw from the throttle controller bracket.
4. Then attach the heat chamber (from the kit) to the throttle controller bracket with the left screw you just removed, and the new 5 x 35 mm screw in place of the one you discarded. Make sure the chamber is flush with the throttle body and the bracket.
Throttle Kit Installation:
Slip hose B onto the heat chamber fitting that points straight down. See item 7.
Kit Installation:
Then attach the thermometer to the bracket with the 6 x 14 mm flange bolt. See item 6.
5. Using the 6 x 32 mm bolt, clamp the bracket for the thermovalve onto the EGR runner at the back of the intake manifold.
Venturi Kit Installation:
Venturi Kit Installation
1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Remove and discard the hot air hose and clamps.
3. Discard the old plastic clip that holds the hot air hose to the lower radiator hose. Press the new clip onto the radiator hose.
4. Remove and discard the old exhaust manifold shroud (3 bolts), and install the new one.
NOTE:
For easier access on cars with A/C and power steering, temporarily remove the bolt in the power steering hose bracket near the #4 spark plug.
5. Slip the new hose clamps onto each end of the new hot air hose.
Bracket:
6. Bend out the sides of the bracket on the transmission so the new hose will fit in it. Discard the bracket in the kit.
7. Connect one end of the new hot air hose to the new exhaust manifold shroud, then press the hose into the metal bracket and into the plastic clip.
8. Set the new and old air cleaner housings upside down, side-by-side on the work bench. Transfer hose #15 and the hot air door assembly (three #8 hoses, one check valve, and one plastic elbow) from the old housing to the new one.
9. Install the new air cleaner.
^ Bend off or cut off the tabs on the left side of the housing so they won't interfere with any nearby lines and hoses.
^ Also, temporarily remove the vacuum control valve before you secure the air cleaner lid or it will interfere with fastening one of the hold-down clips.
