Fuel Pump Relay: Testing and Inspection
Fuel Cut-Off Relay:
1. With ignition switch off, remove fuse box and pull down the junction box to expose the fuel pump cut-off relay.
2. Connect positive probe of voltmeter to the Black/Yellow wire at the fuel pump cut-off relay connector (from the ignition switch) and negative probe to ground. Turn the ignition on and check for battery voltage.
- If no voltage is indicated, check fuse and wiring between relay and ignition switch.
- If voltage is indicated, proceed to step 3.
Fuel Cut-Off Relay Testing:
3. Connect positive probe of voltmeter to the Blue wire at fuel pump cut-off relay connector and negative probe to ground. Turn the ignition on and check for battery voltage.
- If no voltage is indicated, check blue wire circuit between connector and ignition coil negative terminal.
- If voltage is indicated, proceed to step 4.
Jumper Wire:
4. With ignition switch off, disconnect fuel pump cut-off relay from harness connector. Connect the two Black/Yellow wires together with a jumper wire. Turn ignition ON and check for fuel pump operation.
- If fuel pump operates and voltage was available in step 3, replace fuel pump cut-off relay and retest.
- If fuel pump does not operate, proceed to step 5.
Checking Voltage At Pump:
5. With jumper still connected from step 4, check for battery voltage at the fuel pump wires as shown.
- If no voltage is present, check the Black/Yellow wire between relay and pump.
- If voltage is present, check fuel pump. Testing and Inspection
