82 Civic - Cooling Fan Kit Installation Instructions
1. Remove the negative cable from the battery.
2. Remove the windshield washer reservoir.
3. Push the two relay bracket mounts into the holes in the left side of the engine compartment as shown. Then install the relay bracket with self-tapping screws, and attach the relays to it
4. Attach the timer to the timer bracket. Then remove the bolts from the left bumper absorber, and use them to mount the timer bracket as shown.
5. Remove the ignition coil bracket, and replace it with the one provided in the kit. Then attach the air temperature switch and its bracket as shown.
6. Lay the wire harness in place along the front and right side of the engine compartment then connect it.
7. Reinstall the washer reservoir, and reconnect the battery cable.
8. Apply the new fan CAUTION label to the radiator shroud (on top of the old label).
9. Instead of simulating hot-start conditions, bypass the air temperature switch (just disconnect its connector, and turn the key on-and-off once (you don't have to start the engine). The fan should start when you turn the key off, and keep running for the 15-minute maximum.
NOTE: If, during hot weather, the customer complains that the fan doesn't come on, also check the system with the air temperature switch connected, by turning the key off after the engine has idled for 20 minutes with the hood closed.
10. Reconnect the temperature switch connector.
