Hot-Start Driveability
PROBLEM
If the engine has been warmed-up, shut off for a while, and then re-started while hot it surges moderately for about five minutes. (Extended cranking may occasionally be required for the restarting.)
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Install a cooling fan kit according to the instructions provided with this bulletin. Then, if the underhood temperature gets too high, the air temperature switch will automatically turn the fan on when the engine is shut off. The timer will let the fan run for a maximum of 15 minutes.
NOTE: Because of variations in gasoline, outside temperature, and elevation, the kit may not completely eliminate all hot re-start driveability symptoms.
82 Prelude shown: Civic and Accord are similar.
