Overdrive Switch

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Tool Required:
- J 38125-A Terminal Repair Kit

1. Manual selector from vehicle.





2. OVERDRIVE switch/manual selector illumination lamp electrical connector from rear of manual selector.





3. Open the terminal position assurance (TPA) on the side of the OVERDRIVE switch/manual selector illumination lamp electrical connector using a terminal remover from the J 38125-A.





4. Two white OVERDRIVE switch wires from OVERDRIVE switch/manual selector illumination lamp electrical connector using a terminal remover from the J 38125-A.





5. Unhook the two white OVERDRIVE switch wires from the underside of the manual selector base.





Important: When removing the manual selector knob, lift up slowly and first remove the manual selector button, return spring retainer and return spring.

6. Two screws, manual selector knob and manual selector lever sleeve from manual selector lever while simultaneously feeding the two white OVERDRIVE switch wires through the shift indicator.





7. OVERDRIVE switch from manual selector knob.

Inspect
- For OVERDRIVE switch diagnosis, refer to A245E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE DIAGNOSIS.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. OVERDRIVE switch into manual selector knob.
2. Manual selector lever sleeve and manual selector knob onto manual selector lever while simultaneously feeding the two white OVERDRIVE switch wires through the shift indicator; secure with two screws.
3. Hook the two white OVERDRIVE switch wires into the underside of the manual selector base.
4. Two white OVERDRIVE switch wires into OVERDRIVE switch/manual selector illumination lamp electrical connector.
5. Close the TPA on the side of the OVERDRIVE switch/manual selector illumination lamp electrical connector.
6. OVERDRIVE switch/manual selector illumination lamp electrical connector into rear of manual selector.
7. Manual selector into vehicle.
