Q. Exterior Components
INSTALL OR CONNECT- Tool Required:
- J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant
1. Two new fluid cooler pipe union O-rings and fluid cooler pipe unions into transaxle case.
- Tighten fluid cooler pipe unions to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
2. PNP switch onto manual shaft; secure with two bolts. Do not tighten fully.
3. Manual Shaft lock plate and nut onto PNP switch.
- Tighten manual shaft nut to 12 Nm (106 ft. lbs.).
4. Stake lock plate behind manual shaft nut.
Adjust
- PNP switch.
- Tighten PNP switch mounting bolts to 5 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
5. Manual lever onto manual shaft; secure with one washer and one nut.
- Tighten manual lever nut to 13 Nm (115 ft. lbs.).
6. Remove the J 37268 with the transaxle assembly from the J 3289-20.
7. Remove the J 37268 from the transaxle case.
8. Vent hose onto vent elbow at top of transaxle case; secure with one clamp.
Inspect
- Fluid filler tube O-ring for cuts or other damage. Replace as necessary.
9. Apply J 36850 to the fluid filler tube O-ring.
10. Fluid filler tube into transaxle case; secure with one bolt.
- Tighten fluid filler tube bracket bolt to 5 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
11. Fluid level indicator from fluid filler tube.
12. One bolt, fluid cooler pipe bracket, inlet and outlet fluid cooler pipes to transaxle case; secure with one bolt.
- Tighten:
- Fluid cooler pipe bracket bolt to 5 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
- Inlet and outlet fluid cooler pipe fittings to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.).
13. Shift select cable bracket from transaxle case; secure with two bolts.
- Tighten shift select cable bracket bolts to 5 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
14. Rear transaxle mount to torque converter housing; secure with two bolts.
- Tighten rear transaxle mounting bracket bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
15. Front transaxle mount to torque converter housing; secure with two bolts.
- Tighten front transaxle mounting bracket bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
16. Left transaxle mounting bracket onto top of transaxle case; secure with three bolts.
- Tighten left transaxle mounting bracket bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
17. Torque converter onto input shaft.
