L. Front Planetary Gearset and Sun Gear Input Drum

INSTALL OR CONNECT

- Tool Required:
- J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant





1. Intermediate brake hub and intermediate one-way clutch into intermediate brake assembly.

Measure

- Tool Required:
- J 26900-6 Dial Caliper





- Intermediate brake hub installation depth using a J 26900-6. Measure the depth between the surface of the intermediate brake hub and the rear planetary carrier. Installation depth should be approximately 5 mm (0.20 inch).





2. Apply J 36850 to the sun gear thrust washer to hold it in place on the rear of the sun gear input drum.
3. Sun gear thrust washer onto rear of sun gear input drum.





4. Sun gear input drum into intermediate one-way clutch and rear planetary carrier.
5. Apply J 36850 to the front planetary carrier thrust bearing race to hold it in place inside the rear planetary carrier.





6. Front planetary carrier thrust bearing into front planetary carrier.





7. Front planetary carrier onto sun gear inside sun input drum.





8. Front planetary ring gear thrust bearing race onto top of front planetary carrier.
9. Apply J 36850 to the front planetary ring gear thrust bearing to hold it in place inside the front planetary ring gear.
10. Front planetary ring gear thrust bearing into front planetary ring gear.





11. Front planetary ring gear onto front planetary carrier.





12. Forward clutch inner thrust bearing race on top of front planetary ring gear.

Important: In order for the forward clutch inner thrust bearing to align with the forward clutch inner thrust bearing race, the forward clutch inner thrust bearing must be installed into the forward clutch drum just prior to forward and direct clutch installation.
