J. Rear Planetary Gearset

INSTALL OR CONNECT

- Tool Required:
- J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant

1. Apply J 36850 to the rear planetary carrier thrust bearing and race.





2. Rear planetary carrier thrust bearing and race onto intermediate shaft and into rear planetary ring gear.
3. Remove the low one-way clutch from the rear planetary carrier.
4. Apply J 36850 to the rear planetary carrier thrust washers to hold them in place on the rear planetary carrier.





5. Rear planetary carrier thrust washers onto rear planetary carrier.
6. Align the inner teeth of the 1st-reverse brake discs.





7. Rear planetary carrier into rear planetary ring gear and 1st-reverse brake.
8. Low one-way clutch onto rear planetary carrier.
9. Low one-way clutch snap ring into transaxle case.

Inspect





- Low one-way clutch for correct installation by turning the rear planetary carrier. The rear planetary carrier should turn freely in a clockwise direction and should lock in a counterclockwise direction. If these conditions do not exist, the low one-way clutch is installed backwards (upside down). Remove the low one-way clutch and reinstall in its correct position.
