Shift Lever and Selector Lever


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Assembly from case.
2. E-clip and compression spring.





3. using a pin punch and a hammer, driver out the slotted spring pins from the shift inner levers number 1 and number 2.
4. Shift inner lever number 2.
5. Shift inner lever number 1 and the shift interlock plate.





6. Using a pin punch and a hammer, drive out the slotted spring pin from the select inner lever.
7. Select inner lever, compression spring, and spring seat.
8. Snap ring from the lever shaft using two screwdrivers and a hammer.





9. Lever shaft and boot.
10. Shaft seal.

Inspect
1. Lever and boot.
2. Select inner lever.
3. Shift inner lever number 1 and number 2.
4. Compression spring and seats.
5. If there is excessive wear or damage, replace components as required.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

- Tool Required:
- J 35823 Shift Shaft Seal Installer





1. Shaft seal using a J 35823 seal installer.
2. Apply GM # 1051344, lightly coating the shaft.
3. Boot and lever shaft.

NOTICE: Make sure to install the boot in the correct direction. Position the air bleed of the boot downward.

4. Snap ring and spring seat.
5. Compression spring and select inner lever.
6. Spring pin using a pin punch and hammer.
7. Number 1 shift inner lever by aligning the interlock plate.
8. Number 2 shift inner lever.





9. Slotted pin in number 2 shift lever with a pin punch and a hammer.
10. Compression spring, seat, and E-clip.
11. Assembly in case.
