Removal Procedure









REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Tool Required:
- J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture

1. Install J 28467-A engine support fixture.
2. Battery hold down, battery, and tray.
3. Air cleaner (ACL). Refer to POWERTRAIN MANAGEMENT.
4. Backup switch electrical connector.
5. Ground strap.
6. Two actuator mounting bolts.
7. Actuator line bracket.
8. Shift cable retainers and end clips.
9. Shift cables from brackets and lay aside.
10. Left transaxle mount cove and brace.
11. Mount through bolt.
12. Two upper transaxle to engine bolts.
13. Upper starter bolt.





14. VSS electrical connector from VSS.
15. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
16. Right and left lower splash shields.
17. Drain transaxle oil.
18. Starter electrical connections.
19. Bottom starter bolt and starter.
20. Drive axles.
21. Two center crossmember-to-radiator support bolts.
22. Front mount bolt shield.
23. Two front mount bolts.
24. Three rear mount nuts.
25. Two bolts from front exhaust pipe support.
26. Support main crossmember.
27. Four main crossmember-to-underbody bolts.
28. Six lower A-frame bracket-to-underbody bolts.

CAUTION: Lower main crossmember slowly while holding onto the center crossmember. Center crossmember will be free to fall at this time and could cause serious bodily injury.

29. Front mount through bolt and mount.
30. Front mount bracket from transaxle.
31. Inspection cover bolt.
32. Two lower transaxle bracket-to-mount.
33. Lower vehicle.
34. Remaining transaxle mount-to-bracket bolt.
35. Lower transaxle with J 28467-A engine support fixture to gain clearance to remove the transaxle.
36. Transaxle mount.
37. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
38. Support transaxle.
39. Front and rear lower transaxle-to-engine.
40. Transaxle from vehicle.
