Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Tools Required:
- J 26941 Drive Axle Shaft Oil Seal Remover
- J 23907 Slide Hammer

1. Battery negative (-) cable.
2. Raise suitably support the vehicle.
3. Transaxle splash shield.
4. Drain plug and drain oil.
5. Drive axle.
6. Using J 26941 seal remover and J 23907 slide hammer, remove the axle shaft seals.

Clean
- Axle shaft seal riding surfaces.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
- Tool Required:
- J 35553 Drive Axle Shaft Oil Seal Installer

1. Lightly lubricate seals and seal riding surfaces on axle shaft with GM #1051344.
2. Using J 35553 installer, install the differential seals.
3. Drive axles.
4. Fill transaxle with specified oil.
5. Transaxle splash shield.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Battery negative (-) cable.
