Preliminary Checking Procedure

The condition of an automatic transaxle not operating properly may be influenced by one or a combination of the following items:
- Fluid level high or low.
- Engine performance. Refer to POWERTRAIN MANAGEMENT.
- Shift select cable adjustment.
- Internal fluid leaks. Refer to the TRANSMISSION/ TRANSAXLE/TRANSFER CASE UNIT REPAIR MANUAL.
- Electrical system. Refer to ENGINE, AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE DIAGNOSIS OR ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSIS.
- Transaxle or other mechanical components. Refer to TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/TRANSFER CASE UNIT REPAIR.
