Line Pressure Check

- Tools Required:
- J 35752 Oil Pressure Gage Adapter
- J 21867 Universal-Pressure Gage Set~

Important: This test should only be performed at a normal operating fluid temperature of 50 to 80° C (122 to 176° F).

1. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
2. Remove six bolts and left splash shield from vehicle.

3. Remove the line pressure tap bolt from the rear of the transaxle.
4. Install J 35752 into the line pressure tap on the rear of the transaxle.
5. Install J 21867 into J 35752.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Route J 21867 over the front fender and through the driver's window so that it can be read from the passenger compartment.
8. Connect a scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
9. Apply parking brake and block vehicle wheels.
10. Press brake pedal fully.
11. Start engine.
12. Display engine speed (rpm) on scan tool.

CAUTION: For steps 13 through 20, procedures for testing line pressure at Idle and stall speeds, the brake pedal must be fully pressed throughout the measurement procedure. Failure to do so could result in unexpected vehicle movement causing personal injury and/or property damage.

13. Place manual selector in Drive (D) range and record line pressure at idle speed (650 to 750 rpm).

NOTICE: DO NOT run engine at stall speed for more than five seconds continuously or fluid temperatures may become excessively high causing transaxle damage.

14. Press accelerator pedal fully at Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and record line pressure in Drive (D) range at stall speed (2150 to 2450 rpm). Release accelerator pedal.
15. Keeping brake pedal fully pressed, place manual selector in Second (2) range and record line pressure at idle speed (650 to 750 rpm).
16. Press accelerator pedal fully (WOT) and record line pressure in Second (2) range at stall speed (2150 to 2450 rpm). Release accelerator pedal.
17. Keeping brake pedal fully pressed, place manual selector in Low (L) range and record line pressure at idle speed (650 to 750 rpm).
18. Press accelerator pedal fully (WOT) and record line pressure in Low (L) range at stall speed (2150 to 2450 rpm). Release accelerator pedal.
19. Keeping brake pedal fully pressed, place manual selector in Reverse (R) range and record line pressure at idle speed (650 to 750 rpm).
20. Press accelerator pedal fully (WOT) and record line pressure in Reverse (R) range at stall speed (2150 to 2450 rpm). Release accelerator pedal.
21. Place manual selector in Park (P) range and turn ignition switch to LOCK.
22. Disconnect scan tool from DLC.
23. Remove the J 21867 from passenger compartment.
24. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
25. Remove J 21867 from J 35752.
26. Remove J 35752 from the line pressure tap on the rear of the transaxle.
27. Install the line pressure tap bolt into the rear of the transaxle.
- Tighten line pressure tap bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
28. Install the left splash shield and secure with six bolts.
- Tighten splash shield bolts to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
29. Lower vehicle.

Evaluation
Compare line pressure test results with the Line Pressure Test Results. If line pressure is not as specified, refer to the LINE PRESSURE DIAGNOSIS for further evaluation.
