Differential Case Assembly






INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Outer race and selected adjusting shim onto right side bearing.
2. Differential assembly into case.
3. Left bearing retainer and O-ring. While holding the differential case centered with the retainer, tap in the retainer.
4. Clean the threads of the bolts and coat the threads of the bolts with GM # 1052624 Loctite. Snug the bolts evenly and gradually while turning the ring gear.
5. Right side bearing cap. Snug the bolts evenly and gradually while turning the ring gear.

Tighten
- Left bearing retainer bolts to 19 N.m (14 lb. ft.).

6. Measure total preload. Refer to "Differential Adjustment" procedure earlier in this section.

Tighten
- Right side bearing cap bolts to 49 N.m (36 lb. ft.).

7. Carrier cover. Clean the threads of the bolts and coat the threads of the bolts with GM # 1052624 Loctite.
8. Carrier cover over the gasket.

Tighten
- Carrier cover bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

9. If overhauling complete transaxle assembly, refer to "Transaxle Assembly."
10. Governor pressure adapter.
11. Manual valve lever and shaft.
12. Parking lock pawl.
13. Parking lock rod and bracket.
14. Intermediate shaft.
15. Transaxle rear cover with gasket.

Tighten
- Transaxle rear cover bolts 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

16. Valve body.
17. Governor body.
18. Oil pan with gasket.
19. Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).
20. Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
